i stayed at hillside for about 2 and a half months, (admitted 4/3/24, discharged 6/14/24) and i want to start this review by simply prefacing that hillside is amazing! i stayed at the boys home in riverside OC, and i was one of the first 4 people to ever stay at that house. i struggled with my mental health and substance abuse for years prior to this stay, and nothing ever seemed to work for me. in november of 2023, i went to a different residential in petaluma, and compared to hillside it sucked. hillside is probably the best of the best out of all of the choices you can send your child to. during my stay, the staff showed so much care and compassion towards the clients, and constantly went out of their way to make sure we felt valued, loved and happy. in my past experience, residential treatment felt like a prison... however hillside felt like a home. the other clients felt like brothers and the staff felt like family. there was a specific staff member who would go out of his way to drive clients to reach their goals of clean time by providing time based incentives, simply because he cared a lot. the schedule is very chill compared to other residential treatment centers, and the different people brought in from outside the company, for example a breath work instructor, helped a lot! something i'm sure a lot of people would be wondering about is the food. usually, you'd expect food at these places to be nasty.. however we had a chef and he was AMAZING!! he cooked amazing meals by request of the clients, and also went out of his way to help clients interested in cooking learn essential skills. one thing that really stands out to me compared to other facilities is the two outings a week that we partake in. one day a week we go on an unpaid outing to either a park, the beach, a hike or something similar... and on saturdays we have a paid outing. for example, laser tag or go-karting. once a month the clients get to go on a big outing. the two i went on were knots berry farm and deep sea fishing. these outings make you feel like you aren't trapped in a facility and give you a sense of humanity. the therapy provided was superb. i personally had the therapist nicole, and she was amazing! probably the best therapist ive ever had. our family sessions were some of the most productive therapy sessions ive ever had, and she somehow managed to help me heal what seemed to be a permanently broken relationship. i learnt a lot at hillside, much more than i would've expected to learn anywhere else. i recommend this facility to any guardian looking into residential treatment, because in my opinion, it doesn't get better than hillside.

My daughter learned such amazing skills while at Horizon and we loved the staff so much! It was hard to leave her in a place so far from home, but knowing that she was going to be cared for made a huge difference for us. We are now several weeks out from picking her up and are so happy with how she is handling her stressors

I work for an adolescent residential program and often refer clients to Hillside Horizon for Teens. When our program cannot meet a client's needs, I collaborate with Hillside to help families find appropriate care for their child. Families have given me excellent feedback about their experiences with Hillside.

We recently had to help a family friend find treatment for their child, as you can imagine this was a very stressful time. Hillside made the process so easy. They were kind, compassionate and informative. We genuinely felt like they cared about their needs of the child. The facility was clean and beautiful. The therapies they use are very well rounded to cater to all different types of kids. We were very impressed with our experience. We recommend Hillside to everyone going through something with their teen!

Hillside Horizon has been a blessing for our family. Our adopted son has suffered from attachment issues and other mental health challenges for over 6 years. He has been to several RTC facilities and multiple visits to local hospitals. He had stopped trying to do school work. He came home from Hillside Horizon more considerate of how his actions affected us, more cooperative, more willing to engage in conversations about his feelings, and willing to try school work. Staff worked hand in hand with us through his stay. They listened to us. When they wanted to use a stimulant for his ADHD, we told them we did not like the idea because stimulants made him more irritable in the past. They listened and did not try stimulants. We are grateful for the growth our son made at Hillside Horizon.

I highly recommend Hillside Horizen. When my daughter ask me to go to a residential facility I was extremely nervous. I believe I cried for 4 days. I have to say that everyone at Hillside was very kind, compassionate, helpful. I am very pleased with my daughters care there. For any moms who are overprotective like myself and worried about your daughter being away from home. can promise you that everyone is there for you as well as your daughter. My daughter was in hillside for 60 days and the staff was there for her when I could not be, this gave me comfort. They were there for me as well. This tramendously helped me get through each day. Some of our favorites employees are Jess, Taylor, Bri, Alice, Alani, Ariana Tammy & Hedley. Also the psychiatrist and doctors are great as well . My daughters hard work and these women helped her get through each and everyday without her family. I am forever grateful to them all. Thank you All.

My daughter (17) came here after her 5th hospitalization. This was her second residential facility and the difference was immediately apparent. When I connected with the website to ask questions, I was called immediately and all of my questions were answered throughly. The team coordinated with her hospital discharge to be able to admit her without any lapse in care. ALL of the staff at the house were/are amazing. They addressed our concerns and kept me in the loop as to what was going on with my daughters progress, set backs, triumphs and challenges. She was in the program for 45 days and although she does have a lot of work to do, Hillside gave her the much needed reset and place to calm her mind and focus on her future goals. I am forever appreciative to the owners of Hillside as well. You can tell right away that this is not a corporate residential, they truly care about each and every one of their residents and no challenge is too big. They were not scared off by what my daughter was going through and brought her to the other side where she now sees a future and is excited to join back in life. I will forever be indebted to Hillside and Anthony for welcoming my daughter with open arms and loving her when I couldn't be there to.

"I am truly grateful to Hillside for the treatment my daughter experienced. From the very first phone call to the last therapy session and everything in between, our family has felt cared for, supported, and encouraged. My daughter was treated with kindness, care and dignity and was never defined by her illness, struggles or behaviors...Thank you, Hillside Horizon!"

"First of all, no one can tell me that the owner, Anthony, is not a Godsend! Like a literal Angel on earth. This man went above and beyond to ensure that our family had the opportunity to get the help we so desperately needed. He offered empathy and resolve when it felt like everywhere else there were barriers. I’m so glad that someone referred me to his program. I will forever be grateful for Hillside Horizon."

"My daughter went to Hillside in late August; right before she turned 13. She was there for about 45 days and the only reason she left “early” was because I had to get her back in school here in MD... I could list out so many positive people who have impacted my daughters life in the best way, but I just truly want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Because of your facilities, I feel like I have MY girl back. Because someone FINALLY listened and didn’t see dollar signs over her mental health, my daughter is able to be the person who we all knew she could be."

Courtney Y.

"Hillside Horizon treated my daughter very well. The leadership and staff were knowledgeable and communicated well with us. My daughter gained a lot of knowledge and learned to love herself as well as others throughout her stay at Hillside. Thank you all for opening your doors and helping my daughter through her rough journey...."

Melissa S.

"Hillside saved my life. The staff was so kind and understanding to me. I will never forget the people I met there and the things I learned."

Danica R.

"So happy that I found Hillside for my boys. My boys went through a tough time, divorce, smoking pot, new friend groups that weren’t the best of kids… we all know that teens are hard no matter what!!! To have a team of professionals, especially Felicia (clinical director) help out our family made it so much easier. The owner, Anthony really cared about my boys and their treatment- it was never based on the money or what I had to pay, it was always focused on patient care and having healthy, happy teens in the end....Can’t say enough positive things about Hillside Horizon. Love the entire team and my boys did too! Thanks for always making me feel like I had the support as a mom..."
