The School Year Does Not Pause

School keeps going while they live here. Classes are on site through Advantages School, a Cognia-accredited partner. The work can transfer back to their school at home. Gym and art therapy can count as PE and art. For ages 12-17.

Work that goes home with them

Because the school is accredited, completed work can transfer back to their home campus. Ask their counselor to confirm the courses before discharge — districts still decide what they accept.

How To Continue Schoolwork While At Hillside

To enroll in classes through our partner at the Advantages School, please provide your teen's latest transcript or class schedule. We use them to place your teen in the proper classes to ensure a smooth transition so your teen does not fall behind while in our program.

  • Current transcriptAsk their school for a current transcript. It shows credits earned and the classes they are in now, so Advantages can put them in the right online classes when they arrive.
  • Class list or scheduleSend the class list or bell schedule they use today. Include a reduced day or independent study if they have one, so they pick up the same work instead of starting over.
  • IEP or 504 planIf they have an IEP or 504, send a copy. Supports stay in place in the online classes here. If they do not have one, skip this.
