What this is

A house that can hold the intensity — not a unit that warehouses it

Female residential here is a live-in program for adolescent girls 12–17. Small census on purpose. The work we see most often in this house is relational: comparison, a rupture that becomes the week, self-harm as an off-switch, anxiety that rearranges the friend group. The clinical day is the same methods as the boys’ house. The group is not. If she needs a hospital, we say so.

When this house is the level

  • 01

    The night undoes the hour

She can do a session. She cannot do 9 p.m. Outpatient ends. The thought does not.

  • 02

A friend group that is the only plan

School is a social map, not a seat. When the map breaks, the year goes with it. She needs both in the same day.

  • 03

A body used as the off-switch

Self-harm, restriction, a spike the bathroom cannot hold. Parents in shifts is not a level of care.

  • 04

    Comparison as the air

A small female house can either feed that or interrupt it. Census and staff are the intervention — not a lecture about being kind.

  • 05

A parent who became the night watch

You sleep in the doorway. You check the phone. Dropping her off is not the stay. You are in the sessions.

  • 06

We will say when it is not us

Eating-disorder medical instability, a locked unit, a picture we cannot treat. We name the next call. We do not stretch this house.

The day

What a week holds

Sessions, the family table, and the house itself — the same work, in three places.

01

In sessions

A primary therapist, DBT when the spike is the week, trauma work when there is a floor. Chosen for this girl — not a stack because the house is female.

02

With family

Whoever is home — often a mother who has been the watch. Sessions, coaching, a weekend practiced before it is real.

03

In the house

A staffed night and a small peer group. Meals are clinical here. Isolation and comparison are the things we do not feed.

The work

What is in the plan

Chosen for this teen and this intensity — not a stack of every method we know.

  • Core of the plan

    DBT in the milieu

Skills in the hour the rupture happens — a text, a look, a meal. Not a weekly class and a hope she uses it at 10 p.m.

  • A staffed night

The thought is loudest after lights. The house is awake. We do not leave a girl alone with an off-switch.

  • School beside the clinic

Their curriculum, in a room that can hold a hard morning. We do not trade the year for the stay.

  • Family as the other half

The dance at home is often the work. A weekend that is homework. She does not get well in a vacuum and return to an unchanged house.

  • When needed

    A honest no

Medical instability, a hospital, a picture this house cannot hold. We say it on the first call.

Your part

You are not dropping her off

This house fails when the girl changes and the kitchen does not. You are the other half of the stay — not a visitor on Sundays.

  1. Call me when she’s herself again.

    Be in the sessions

Family work on the watch, the meal, the text. We will not do a stay’s worth of change in a teen-only hour.

  2. The girls will sort it out.

    Stay in the picture

A female house is not a reason to step back. She still needs a parent who can hold a no and a plate.

  3. We’ll see how Sunday goes.

    Practice the first weekend

The meal, the phone, the friend who texts. We run it here before discharge — not after a cliff.

Academics

School stays in session

The friend group may have already taken the year. Treatment here does not take the rest of it.

  • Their curriculum

On-site accredited school. Work from the home district — not a generic packet — so the seat and the credits stay theirs.

  • Small by design

Tutoring sits beside the clinical day. No teen sits a semester out to get well.

  • Back to campus

We practice the return before the last day here — the hallway, the bell, the first class.

Send the transcript, the current schedule, and any IEP or 504.

Length of stay

30

days in residence, by progress

Most stays land between one and three months. We do not pick a discharge date before the work is ready.

90

A floor for the day and the night

One to three months is typical — by progress, not by a package. The first two weeks are for safety, meals, and a peer group that can hold. Discharge waits on the work and a next team. Aftercare is part of the stay.

  • The first two weeks are for safety, meals, and a rhythm — not a forced breakthrough.
  • Most teens finish in one to three months. Some stay longer. We do not pick a discharge date before the work is ready.
  • Aftercare is part of the stay: a written plan, a next team, and check-ins at 30, 60, and 90 days home.

When to call

Do not wait for a cliff.

If you cannot staff the night — or the friend group and the bathroom have become the week — call. We will be honest if this house is too much, or not enough, and whether the female house is the fit.
